December 4, 2020

GPED President & CEO Bruce Wilcox

Bruce Wilcox, GPED President and CEO gave a local economic development update at the Paducah Chamber of Commerce’s December Power in Partnership Breakfast.  Jeff Taylor, Commissioner, Department for Business Development with the Kentucky Economic Development Cabinet was the featured speaker.  Commissioner Taylor outlined some of the efforts of his department to attract new business and industry as well as helping existing businesses expand.  He noted that “the bulk of our (new) jobs come from existing industries, from their retention and expansion, so we focus very heavily on that.”  He further commented on the importance of competitive housing stock, workforce availability, educational opportunities, entertainment options, and diversity inclusion.  Commissioner Taylor further stated, “and when you look at a community that has everything to offer, I can’t think of one that has any more than Paducah.”

GPED would like to thank US Bank, event sponsor, and the Paducah Chamber for the invitation to address their membership.
