Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis President Alberto Musalem Visits Paducah
April 10, 2025
Greater Paducah Economic Development (GPED) was honored to co-host Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis President Alberto Musalem during his recent visit to western Kentucky. His time in Paducah highlighted the strength of local partnerships and the forward-thinking initiatives shaping our region’s economic future.
President Musalem’s visit began at the Paducah Innovation Hub, a cutting-edge facility that equips students and community members with hands-on experience in advanced manufacturing, healthcare, IT, and more. Here, he met with local education leaders who shared how Paducah is preparing the next generation of workers through innovative workforce development programs.
The visit continued with a tour of the former uranium enrichment plant, a significant site owned by the U.S. Department of Energy. President Musalem received updates on the plant’s deactivation and remediation efforts and learned about plans for future economic development—including potential adjacent use of laser-based uranium enrichment technology, which could position the region at the forefront of next-generation nuclear innovation.
The visit concluded with a luncheon and fireside chat co-hosted by GPED and the Paducah Area Chamber of Commerce. Community leaders, business professionals, and public officials gathered to hear President Musalem’s perspective on the current economic landscape and how national trends connect with the region’s opportunities and challenges. His remarks and open discussion offered valuable insights and sparked meaningful conversation about Paducah’s economic path forward.
We were proud to showcase Paducah’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its economy and workforce, and to highlight the continued potential for growth and innovation in our region.
