Business Feature: Carlins Salon Spa

Laura Hawes-Hammons said everything fell into place once she found a space to open her organic salon spa in Paducah.

“I had a vision in my head of what I wanted,” said Laura. “We were just riding around one weekend and I saw this space. It looked almost identical to what I was looking for!”

Carlins Concept Salon Spa opened last June and is an organic salon spa with NATULIQUE, a Denmark based, all-natural and cruelty-free product line which promotes safety and health benefits for both the guests and stylists.

The products are all plant-based and have passed certifications for more than 1,300 natural ingredients. Laura is dedicated to recycling and reusing to make as small of a carbon footprint as possible through her efforts.

Laura has been an avid salon and spa lover since her son was born 25 years ago. She said spending time at salons and spas have given her some much-needed downtime over the years, and even when she travels, she loves to visit and try different organic salons.

“I worked, and when I wasn’t working, I was a stay-at-home-mom,” Laura recalled. “I was looking for somewhere to relax and feel pampered without it costing an arm and a leg. “It’s my ‘me time’ and time I really value for myself.”

Laura is a native of Western Kentucky and since Paducah did not have an organic salon spa, she would travel to Clarksville to meet those needs.

“My stylist is my friend and she asked me one day why I didn’t open my own spa. From there, it unfolded,” Laura explained.

Carlins Concept Salon Spa employs six people and offers a full range of hair services, full body waxing for men and women, manicures and pedicures, and organic facials with natural masks made in-house.

“The community has been very supportive and Paducah is a welcoming city,” Laura commented. “I feel like I was being called here.”

Carlins Salon Spa is located at 2670 New Holt Road, Suite A in Strawberry Hill.
