Business Spotlight: Woodyard Dental Care

Since opening the doors to his dental practice in August of 2009, Dr. Jonathan Woodyard, DMD, has watched both his business and Paducah grow.

“Paducah has responded very well to my business,” said Dr. Jonathan Woodyard, DMD. “I had ties to the area and I watched the growth of Paducah. I feel like we are seeing a shift in the economy with so many small and local businesses opening across town.”

Dr. Woodyard is a graduate of Murray State University and is native of Livingston County. He graduated from the University of Louisville College of Dentistry in 2008 and chose to open his practice in Paducah a year later.

“My wife and I knew we wanted to come back to Paducah,” said Dr. Woodyard. “In 2009 the economy was not ideal, but we decided to start our own practice which has proven to be a good choice.”

Dr. Woodyard said he chose the Olivet Church Road location after some market research of the area. He surveyed McCracken County and found that it was one of the areas with the highest growth. At the time, there were few dentists located in that part of Paducah and development was moving in the direction of his chosen location. Dr. Woodyard chose the area based on the potential growth, foot traffic and visibility he foresaw for his own business and the surrounding businesses and residential areas.

Woodyard Dental Care offers general dental care and specializes in reconstruction and cosmetic dentistry. Over the years, Dr. Woodyard has experienced an increase in the number of services people look for in a dental practice. People went from not wanting to experience pain through dental procedures to wanting cosmetic surgery which he now offers.

“Some of the biggest changes I have seen in my industry since opening my practice is technology and efficiency. I really enjoy technology and we now have 3D scanning that allows us to build teeth in thirty minutes compared to three weeks and one visit instead of two,” he explained. “That’s something I wanted to pursue, and our patients like it.”

Providing quality health care is deeply rooted for Dr. Woodyard with both this father and brother being in the medical field. His father was a pharmacist and originally, Dr. Woodyard planned to follow in his footsteps. He soon decided he wanted a career that was more hands-on and was introduced to dental care by his brother who is also a dentist.

“There are a lot of biological and health-based concepts with dentistry. With the physical procedures, there is so much artistic skill to it from creating teeth and designing smiles. Good dentistry is like makeup, no one knows you have it.”

Through Dr. Woodyard’s career as a dentist and small business owner, he thrives on giving back to those in need.

“When you consider that our state has the worst oral health in the country – there is a big need for replacing teeth and I work hard to fulfill that need.”

Woodyard Dental Care is located at 3235 Olivet Church Rd Suite D in Paducah.
